<p>Whether you can e-file the short-year extension depends on your software, but I imagine yes. </p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Client can request a NYS wage and withholding transcript by calling 518-485-6654 (I believe it&#8217;s option 2). Usually takes 1-2 weeks to receive in the mail. </p>
<p>If you have NY POA on file, you can make the request and have it mailed to you.</p>
<p>Alternately, you can file with no withholding on the return and hope NY adjusts.</p>

I was taught that only the expenses that would have been deductible by the decedent had they been alive can be deducted by the estate. So: Property taxes, yes (as taxes). Transfer tax and related closing costs, no. Loss on the sale of the personal residence, no.</p>
