I guess that’s just it…since they are flight crew, they don’t have anywhere else to be unless they are flying. For 2020 since they didn’t do much flying, they did do some other work and I get that that would be NY, though, we are wondering what counts as a “day”? If they responded to an email? Took a phone call?

I have two clients that live in CT and work for a NY based company and are flight crew. They did not fly much in 2020. They did have some meetings, etc. from home in CT. Sometimes just a phone call. I am assuming that NY will want every single day possible to count as a “NY” day. Any advice? Thoughts? Thank you!

My understanding is that as of 1/1/2018 grant proceeds from government entities to a corporation are taxable upon receipt. Section 118(b)(2). NY has decoupled from this for calculating the entire net income base, Section 208.9(a)(20).

I do not do a ton of NY returns, but I am definitely seeing the same (we knew this was coming and spent time last year with them). Refunds are down, taking more time. IRS mileage rate is 54.5 as far as I know.
